Pack Your Bags and Come to Austin!

The word “house” differs between people in its definition. It is not necessarily as simple as four walls and a roof. For some, a house could refer to an apartment, a trailer, a dorm room, a car, a box or even a mushroom! (For smurfs).
Everyone knows the saying, “home is where the heart it.” The quote is significant because ‘home’ is not always referring to an actual, physical form. Instead, home can be interpreted as anywhere where you feel at peace, where you feel warm and welcome. The popular opener, “make yourself at home,” which is sometimes used when you enter another person’s house, is derived from this concept.

Therefore, the exact terms for house and home can be elusive. It is very common for people to feel at home in a particular part of the world. For some, the state in which they were born will always be considered home, regardless of where they reside. For others, home is in a multitude of places, and can change quite frequently.

I side with a little of both. I grew up in a tiny suburb called Humble, on the outskirts of Houston, and currently live in heart of Texas: Austin. They are both my homes, but for different reasons.

Humble is where I was born; therefore it will always play a significant role in my childhood and upbringing. It contributes to a great deal of memories.

Austin, on the other hand, was a place I discovered on accident after graduating from high school. I immediately felt at home surrounded by the luscious landscape, the eccentric people and the overall vitality and energy of the city. It was so different than anywhere else in Texas, and its personality was charming.

Additionally, after graduating college, I found Austin was ranked one of the top 10 places in the United States to live, and was especially appealing for graduate students.

When people move, their main priority is to find a suitable house, and hopefully transform their houses in to their homes. But let’s back up a little. In order to begin this process of metamorphosis, you have to start somewhere, which is often the most challenging part.

Being new to an area is always intimidating. You are not familiar with the area, you are unsure of the attractions, or which attractions appeal to you, and have no idea how to compare and contrast.

In Austin, there are services that can help you get started without the hassle of driving blindly up the steep hills. Certain companies offer services online that break down exactly what you are looking for, and employees are available if you need additional information. I believe finding a home in Austin will be simple even for the most nostalgic person. Unusually affordable and beautiful, a house in Austin is something you will not regret.
