How to Install Adwords Conversion Tracking

Yes! You DO need to setup Adwords Conversion Tracking in your account and track your sales and lead conversions you will not be able to get the best return for your money, if any at all! Why? Because you need to be able to eliminate words that you spend A LOT on and NEVER get conversions! A conversion, if you don't know, refers to the desired action a visitor takes on your site, such as a lead generation or sale. You need to identify which keywords convert into sales or leads, and then focus spending and higher ad positions for those keywords, and more importantly, make sure not to spend too much on keywords that after a while result in nothing!

Adwords, Yahoo, and other PPC platforms, have this function similar to Google Adwords Conversion Tracking. Some smaller second tier engines do not have conversion tracking. But after you have discovered what works in engines where you have tracking you can then apply those lists to the second tier engines.

Alright already! How EXACTLY do I track conversions?

Step #1 Login & Click On "Conversion Tracking" near the top of the page.

Step #2 Click on "Create New Action"

Step #3 Enter A Name For "Name of Your Action". This can be ANYTHING.

Pick an Action Type from the drop down that says "This action is used for type". Select whether it is for a lead, signup, sale, or other.

Step #4 Click on Save Action and Get Code

Step #5> Copy the Code to Your Clickboard

Step #6> Open Your Source Code for the "Thank You" page that FOLLOWS the desired action you wish to track. If this is an ecommerce transaction it should go on the page that FOLLOWS a COMPLETED sale. In other words, your Thank You page. If it is a lead, you MUST Have a contact FORM on your site, with a "Thank You" page. Install this in the thank you page of any desired action you wish to track. The code goes INSIDE the of the source code. NOT before the or AFTER it MUST go BETWEEN the your body code and text, etc .... body tags such as seen here.

Now that you are tracking your yahoo or adwords conversions (yahoo's process is very similar and not any more difficult than this), you can eliminate ad copy and keywords that do not work and capitalize on those that do. You should without a doubt quickly be able to improve the profitability of your campaigns! Wow! Get it going, I promise this is the most important step you can make aside from the structure of your campaigns. (keywords, landing pages, etc)
